American Honda is issuing a recall for certain 2025 CB1000 Hornet SP motorcycles, due to a manufacturing mishap on these units that could cause the fuel feed hose to spontaneously disconnect from the fuel tank. This condition could, in turn, cause a fuel leak. If the fuel leak occurs near the rear tire, it could pose additional risks of a crash and injuries, and/or pose a fire risk.
According to Honda’s records, approximately 429 individual motorcycles may be affected, which represents about 19.3% of the population. Affected bikes were produced between January 11, 2025 and July 24, 2025.
The issue relates to an improper placement of the angle sensor coupler when the affected units were assembled. Under normal riding conditions, this improper placement could make it possible for the combination of vibration and pressure to cause the locking mechanism of the fuel feed hose to release, which could then allow the fuel hose in question to become disconnected and lead to a potentially dangerous fuel leak.
Honda’s chronology of safety recall events notes that it first received a report of this issue occurring in Europe in May 2025, and began its investigations at that time. Additional reports came in over the following months, all from Europe as well. Eventually, the company also received reports from Japan. As of March 19, 2026, Honda reports that it has received no warranty claims, nor any reports of injuries or deaths related to this issue in the US.
American Honda also issued a Stop Sale notice on any new or used 2025 CB1000 Hornet SP that may potentially be affected by this issue. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration paperwork relating to this recall indicates that affected VINs should be searchable in its database as of April 4, 2026, so if you currently own a 2025 Honda CB1000 Hornet SP, you may want to check your VIN to see if this issue could potentially affect your bike.
According to an American Honda Service Bulletin issued to its dealership network, parts are not currently available to address this issue. The company plans to send notices about this recall to affected owners on May 19, 2026, and also plans to issue an updated Service Bulletin to its dealer network about the recall service procedure once parts become available. At present, the plan for the recall service is to secure the angle sensor coupler wiring harness and replace the affected fuel hose, at no cost to the customer.
