Cirrantic’s Charging Wallet is designed to bundle all available payment options at a charging station – for example, the operator’s ad hoc price per kilowatt hour, roaming prices from registered providers, and individually concluded charging subscriptions or special rates. The prices are to be displayed flexibly in the wallet so that users can choose the cheapest tariff at that charging point. The Charging Wallet also stores various payment options, from Apple Pay and credit cards to billing the charging costs via the mobile phone bill.

The integration of Cirrantic’s Charging Wallet should make it easier to find charging stations via Apple Maps, compare rates and charge there, without having to switch apps or register for new apps. “Transparent pricing, real-time monitoring of the charging process and automatic billing ensure a first-class user experience,” Cirrantic writes in a LinkedIn post.

According to Cirrantic, this will not only make things easier for end customers, but also open up new opportunities for charging point operators and roaming providers. The app pre-installed on iPhones not only increases the visibility of your own charging station. If the charging process can be started quite easily via Apple Maps, new customers who would not otherwise have installed a new app and completed a registration process may use the charging station. What’s more, flexible or dynamic charging prices can also be implemented via the Charging Wallet.

Initially, the Charging Wallet will be available in Apple Maps at Citywatt, Jolt Energy, DA emobil and Illwerke VKW stations in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Sweden. Other providers are expected to follow.
