AUMOVIO, formerly the Automotive group sector of Continental, has announced a $110 million investment to expand its manufacturing facility in New Braunfels, Texas. This project is part of a strategic plan aimed at increasing production capacity for North American customer projects in advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). The expansion includes a 65,000-square-foot addition and an automated warehouse, with full operational capacity expected by August 2027.
Market Impact
The facility expansion is designed to meet rising demand for ADAS technology. Earlier this year, AUMOVIO secured a major series order for radar sensors from North American customers, with a combined value of approximately €1.5 billion ($1.5 billion). The New Braunfels site is expected to play a significant role in fulfilling these orders.
Distribution Strategy
Opened in 2022, the New Braunfels facility is AUMOVIO’s first greenfield plant in the U.S. It will contribute to the development of Aurora Driver hardware and fallback systems through a partnership with Aurora Innovation. The expansion is set to create 100 new jobs, further supporting local economic development and enhancing the company’s distribution capabilities.

Since its spin-off from Continental in September 2025, AUMOVIO operates independently, focusing on technologies for safe, connected, and autonomous mobility. In the fiscal year 2024, the company generated sales of €19.6 billion. Headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, AUMOVIO employs over 86,000 people across more than 100 locations worldwide.
“This expansion is a testament to our team’s hard work and commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our customers,” said Ibro Muharemovic, head of Autonomous Mobility North America.
“We are proud of the roots we’ve planted here,” said Brandon Lane, New Braunfels plant manager. “Since opening our original facility in 2022, we’ve employed nearly 500 people and produced around 13 million radars.”
