As reported by CN EV Post, another car carrier, the BYD Zhengzhou, with a capacity of 7,000 cars, is about to enter service. With seven large ships, BYD will then operate the largest fleet of its kind among car manufacturers worldwide. And the expansion is rapid: the company only launched its fourth large cargo ship, the BYD Shenzhen, in May. With space for up to 9,200 cars, it was the largest of its kind this spring – but was recently surpassed by SAIC.
As reported, other Chinese car manufacturers such as Geely and SAIC are now also relying on their own large cargo ships for exports. The Geely JISU Fortune has space for 7,000 cars, while SAIC’s Anji Ansheng can carry as many as 9,500. Both Chinese companies recently sent their new cargo ships on their maiden voyages at almost the same time – and both sailed from China to Europe.
