BYD models achieve 92% in adult occupant protection and 90% in child occupant protection in latest tests
BYD’s Seal 6 DM-i saloon and Seal 6 DM-i Touring estate have received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP in the latest test results, with the models achieving 92 per cent in adult occupant protection and 90 per cent in child occupant protection through maximum scores in frontal offset and side barrier tests. The rating adds to BYD’s portfolio of nine models that have achieved the maximum Euro NCAP score since the Chinese automaker entered the European passenger car market in 2022.
The Seal 6 DM-i achieved maximum scores in both the side barrier test and side pole impact for adult occupant protection. In vulnerable road user protection and safety assistance features, the models scored 84 per cent and 85 per cent respectively, with Euro NCAP describing the BYD-developed driver assistance systems as “excellent”.
In a statement, Stella Li, Executive Vice President at BYD, said: “It’s part of our DNA as a technology company to never compromise on safety. Buyers of the Seal 6 DM-i and Seal 6 DM-i Touring can be assured that they’re not only buying an efficient, practical vehicle with excellent EV range and combined range of more than 1,500km.”
The Seal 6 DM-i offers up to 65 miles of pure electric range and a combined range of up to 935 miles on a full tank and full charge. The Seal 6 DM-i Touring has 1,535 litres of luggage capacity and is capable of 62 miles on electric power alone with a combined range of up to 839 miles.
Both models feature Vehicle-to-Load for powering external devices, near field communication (NFC) smartphone access and infotainment touchscreens. The models were introduced to European dealerships in September.
