It’s that time again, where we open up our inbox to your questions for one of the leading experts in the automotive industry. In this installment, we’ll be discussing belts of all types — serpentine, supercharger, and cogged blower belts — along with harmonic dampers and balancers with Dayco.

You likely recognize the Dayco name for their line of replacement ribbed serpentine belts found at all the major auto parts store. You might or might not know that Dayco is also the company responsible for the Powerbond brand of harmonic dampers and balancers. They make both stock replacement and performance-oriented dampers for a variety of applications.

In the OE and aftermarket industry for more than 120 years, Dayco has focused on the engine belt drive systems of a wide variety of automotive, heavy-duty, industrial, and performance platforms. Its “light-duty” line encompasses timing chain kits, serpentine belts, timing belts, tensioners, pulleys, harmonic balancers, mechanical and electrical water pumps, and hoses.

In addition to validating their product designs in the laboratory and ensuring their manufacturing processes are both precise and efficient, Dayco works in the motorsports industry with teams like Kalitta Motorsports and Chris Duncan Race Cars on the drag racing side, Kyle Steckly and Josh Stade in oval track, Chad Anderson Motorsports and Mike Steel, in the drifting world, and UTV Outlaws and Jay Buckley in the powersports competition market.

Priding themselves on their technical knowledge and support, they have opened up their Tech Team to EngineLabs readers for this installment of Ask The Experts. With over a century of combined experience on the five-man team, who are all heavy automotive performance enthusiasts, they’ll be able to answer anything you throw at them.

For the next month — from April 14 through May 14 — the Ask The Experts inbox will be open for your questions regarding any of the components Dayco manufactures: belts, hoses, tensioners, harmonic balancers, and water pumps. So, fire up those keyboards and fire off your questions to enginelabsmag@gmail.com. We’ll compile your questions and publish them, along with the Dayco Tech Team’s answers, at the end of the month.
