The ICE and hybrid F-150 models are more profitable and require less aluminium, so Ford is prioritising them. By Stewart Burnett
Ford has announced plans to increase F-150 and F-Series Super Duty truck production by more than 50,000 units in 2026, creating up to 1,000 new jobs as it attempts to rebound from production losses stemming from a recent fire at a plant owned by aluminium supplier Novelis. The automaker will add a third crew at its Dearborn truck plant for F-150 production and additional employees at Louisville truck plant for F-Series Super Duty assembly.
