In the latest episode of the Fummins project, the host of Fun King Garage tackled the final preparations of his Cummins engine swap before dropping the diesel engine into his 2008 Ford F-450 Super Duty pickup.

The day’s plan was to install a crate of beautiful new swap parts from Diesel Conversion Specialists, but the project started with a dramatic lesson in workshop safety. While cleaning the engine block, a cheap Harbor Freight cleaning disc exploded, narrowly missing him.

“There are definitely things that you buy at Harbor Freight and things that you don’t,” Glenn noted, “I’m gonna have to add these to the don’t list for sure.”

Prepping for the Diesel Conversion Specialists Swap Parts

Before the new Cummins engine swap parts could go on, they had to address some nagging old problems. The accident that totaled the Dodge donor truck dented the engine’s oil pan, so it needed to removed and replaced.

After confirming there was no internal damage, Glenn took the opportunity to install a new rear main seal proactively. As he put it, “If I don’t, I will definitely be sorry later.”

    The Billet Transformation Begins

With the maintenance handled, the installation of the Diesel Conversion Specialists swap kit began. The first major piece was the beautiful billet aluminum adapter plate, which allows the Cummins engine to bolt up to the Ford transmission. He carefully installed the plate and followed it with the new billet flex plate, ensuring all bolts were torqued to specification.

Cummins Engine Swap Mounts and a Smart Deletion

Next, he installed the heavy-duty motor mounts onto the Cummins block. He then removed the bulky factory fuel filter housing, replacing it with a sleek, billet delete block from the kit.

Glenn explained the logic behind the modification, stating, “I’m going with an AirDog lift pump on the frame, which does water separation as well as filtration and air removal, so it was not necessary for me to use the factory one anymore.”

The Heart of the Cummins Engine Swap

These Diesel Conversion Specialists Parts are more than just a set of brackets; it’s the core of the entire Cummins engine swap. Each component, from the beefy motor mounts to the perfectly machined adapter plate, is engineered to solve a specific problem.

Glenn even noted his appreciation for the aesthetics of the parts, pointing out that people can see the beautiful billet fuel filter delete block on the engine. It’s a complete system that provides the strength and fitment needed to bring this ambitious project to life.
