The Geely Group’s core brand of the same name has revised its EX5 model. Although the SUV, which is positioned between the compact and mid-size classes with a length of 4.62 metres, has been improved on many levels, Chinese customers can look forward to a price reduction.

On the domestic market, the base price will be 109,800 yuan in future, which corresponds to around 13,200 euros in our currency. This means that the model has become 3,000 yuan or the equivalent of 360 euros cheaper, which corresponds to 2.66 per cent of the original price.

And this is despite the fact that the range, according to the local CLTC standard, has increased significantly. Depending on the version, the range is 530 or 610 kilometres. Previously, it was 440 or 530 kilometres. The basic version runs on a 60.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, while the longer-range versions feature a battery capacity of 68.39 kWh.

For the drive system, everything has remained basically the same: In all five variants, an electric drive unit with 160 kW (218 hp) and 320 Nm of torque sits on the front axle. This allows the SUV, which weighs around 1.7 tonnes, to accelerate from zero to one hundred in 6.9 seconds. The top variant costs 148,800 yuan, which corresponds to around 18,000 euros.

The EX5, or E5 as it is marketed in Germany, was only introduced in May 2024, so the update is quite early. It cannot have been due to a lack of success, as Geely claims that the model is one of the most popular electric SUVs from a Chinese manufacturer internationally.

The model is currently available in 35 countries, including Southeast Asian markets, Australia and New Zealand, as well as some Southeast European countries and the United Kingdom.
