GWM has launched the Tank 700 SUV in the Middle East and confirmed its Hi4 hybrid system will arrive in 2026
GWM has launched its flagship Tank 700 SUV in the Middle East following an event where the automaker also confirmed its Hi4 intelligent four-wheel drive hybrid system will be introduced to Middle Eastern and African markets in 2026. The Tank 700 became available in showrooms across the UAE and the wider Middle East from 6 December, with a Qatar debut scheduled for next month.
The Hi4 system is designed for diverse terrains and extreme environments. GWM also used the event to showcase its next-generation 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 engine platform and an off-road grading system intended to define vehicle capability from urban use to professional off-roading.
Nicole Wu, Chief Technology Officer at GWM, said: “We pursue localised R&D because the world is vast and diverse—no single energy solution can meet every need. GWM does not promote a one-size-fits-all future; instead, we embrace a full-spectrum powertrain strategy: ICE, hybrid, electric, and hydrogen.”
The Tank series is now available in more than 30 countries, with cumulative global sales exceeding 800,000 units. GWM says the Tank 500 leads the mid-to-large SUV segment in Qatar, while nearly 80 Tank owner clubs and more than 300 online communities have formed worldwide.
Parker Shi, President of GWM International, said: “GWM Tank 700 is built to conquer. It brings together comfort, capability, resilience, and craftsmanship in a way that makes luxury feel purposeful and fully prepared for real adventure.”
