Here’s Harley-Davidson’s New Entry-Level Motorcycle, But Not the One We’re Getting

Following hot on the heels (well, reasonably hot on the heels) of the ultra-successful X440, Harley-Davidson has just pulled back the covers on its new small-displacement hotness: The X440T. Now, just like the X440, the same rules apply. If you’re in India, you’re in luck, and this bike is made in your market, for your market. But if you’re located in the US or elsewhere, you may just have to content yourself with appreciating it from afar.

Also just like the X440, the new X440T is a product of Harley-Davidson’s partnership with Hero MotoCorp, and is built on the same platform as the original X440. Another important thing to note is that this announcement from Harley-Davidson India primarily relates to revealing the X440T’s design, and doesn’t mention any of its specs or pricing information. It’s expected to become available in India very soon, though.

What’s the difference? Well, of course paint and graphics have changed. And really, just look at that tail section.

In fact, for comparison purposes, let’s put these X440-line stablemates side by side so you can directly compare with your own two eyes. To my eyes, the X440T looks a lot more sleek and sculpted in the back, It’s very tidy, and I really like the way the tail kind of flows into the taillight, almost like it’s an exclamation point set on its side.

Honestly, by contrast, the tail section of the original X440 kind of looks like even more of a mess than you might have previously thought before. The X440T is so sleek by comparison, it kind of stands in sharp contrast to the original design. Sorry, original X440.

The paint and graphics also add to the more modern aesthetic, and the little chrome hits on the wheel spokes around the wheel also add to the visual appeal, particularly since the chrome isn’t overdone here. Extensive use of matte black on other key bits, such as the exhaust an the mirrors, makes the few bits of chrome that are present stand out like a welcome bit of accessorization.

As mentioned above, full details of specs (and whether there are any substantive changes from the original X440) and pricing have yet to be revealed, but stay tuned to RideApart for that news once it’s available. In the meantime, how do you like the look of the Harley-Davidson X440T? Me, I think it looks quite good, but as an avowed naked bike and small-displacement motorcycle enthusiast, you probably expected no less from me. If you’re in India, are you looking forward to riding one? Let me know in the comments.

    We want your opinion!
