I Cringed When Ford Partnered With Carhartt. Then I Saw The New Truck They Built

I’ll be honest, when the fashionistas of Brooklyn started snagging all the Carhartts they could get their hands on, I sighed and rolled my eyes. It was very similar to how I roll my eyes whenever my little brother says, “I’ll help!” with any manual labor. He’s just not built for it, and Carhartt is built for people just needing stuff to work and work whenever.

Downtown Brooklyn might get cold in the winter, but tough-as-nails waxed canvas jackets are probably unnecessary when you’re off getting a nice biscotti for breakfast or rolling to the local bodega for a bacon, egg, and cheese. But this is how fashion works, right? It’s the same vein as Alpinestars’ rise with Balenciaga. I’m not sure it works, but I’m also someone who buys stuff to do stuff with.

I do own a pair of Jordans, though.

So when I heard that Carhartt was partnering with Ford, with this coming off the heels of Carhartt’s rise in the streetwear world, I cringed. Was this going to be some fast-fashion, viral-asking collaboration in the way that Balenciaga went with its “moto boots”? Or would it be true to the Carhartt name and brand and its history?

Luckily for everyone involved, it appears to be the latter, and now I’m sitting here looking at my empty bank account, wishing there was more in there, as the 2027 Ford Super Duty Carhartt package seems perfect for all the powersports adventures I do.

The Carhartt Package will be available for any Super Duty F-Series, albeit only the ones with single-rear wheels, i.e., not the duallies, and “brings distinctive Carhartt design cues, practical work-ready details, and the capability Super Duty customers use every day,” according to the Blue Oval. But the accessories added to the Super Duty aren’t just Superficial…I’ll see myself out.

Four of the packages’ parts stand out, with those being the off-road running boards, the Tough Bed bedliner, the Carhartt-inspired cloth seats, and all-weather floor mats. These four really make up the crux of the package, and do a lot to ensure the credibility of the Carhartt brand as a working company. Especially that bedliner, as it’s one of the most important parts of any new truck, as it makes the difference between banging up your bed and causing rust or being able to wash away the dirt, gravel, or blood from a hunting expedition.

Ask me how I know about that last one.

But let’s talk about one of those four, as I will say, I would’ve liked to have seen actual Carhartt material-covered seats. Imagine a Super Duty with waxed canvas. I mean, I’m constantly getting into and out of my truck dirty, wet, and just plain old gross. Carhartt’s jacket material could help save the interiors, plus look dope doing so. I think that’s a missed opportunity.

Additionally, folks who select the Carhartt Package will also get a unique dark-painted grille, 20-inch unique machined and painted wheels, Bridgestone all-terrain tires, Carhartt graphics on fender vents, doors, and tailgate with unique color accents, a wrapped steering wheel with accent stitching, and roof markers, clearance lamps, reflector lamps, fog lamps, and a center high-mounted stop lamp all in a LED format.

Likewise, Ford will sell you a Super Duty Carhartt in six distinct colors, including Marsh Gray, Iconic Silver Metallic, Agate Black Metallic, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Oxford White, and Neptune Blue, which is a new color for 2027.

As for pricing, Ford wants a cool $4,195 for the Carhartt Package, which is on top of the base price of the Super Duty of your choice. That’s not the worst package price I’ve ever heard, either, as most bundles today just tack on way too much. At least with this, you’d get some stuff that’ll actually help you out in the field or hauling motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs, or wild game.
