While the ID. Buzz Cargo was previously only available with a short wheelbase, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) now confirmed that it will also offer a long-wheelbase variant. However, the company has not yet revealed further details. “Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will announce the technical details and prices of the extended ID. Buzz Cargo as soon as they are finalised,” the Hanover-based company stated.

For now, the only reference point is the passenger version of the MEB-based van, where the long-wheelbase variant has been available since summer 2024. For that model, the surcharge for the LWB version is €1,535 net in Germany, regardless of the drivetrain or equipment—whether it is the ID. Buzz Pro, the special-edition Energy model, or the top-of-the-range ID. Buzz GTX with all-wheel drive. Based on the minimum net price of €48,225 for an ID. Buzz Cargo Pro, the long-wheelbase version of this commercial variant is expected to start at €49,760 net. Again, these are German prices.

With the 86 kWh battery—compared to the 79 kWh energy capacity of the short-wheelbase version—the WLTP range increases from roughly 460 to just over 485 kilometres. Since the ID. Buzz Cargo Pro (with a 79 kWh battery in the underbody) is rated at 461 kilometres of standard range, the long-wheelbase version is also expected to achieve around 485 to 490 kilometres.

In the long-wheelbase version of the ID. Buzz, it is not the rear overhang that is extended but exclusively the wheelbase. The standard version, measuring 4.71 metres in length with a wheelbase of exactly three metres, is stretched by 25 cm between the axles to 3.25 metres. As the front and rear overhangs remain unchanged, the vehicle’s overall length increases to 4.96 metres.

However, without official specifications, it remains unclear how exactly the additional 25 centimetres of wheelbase will affect the cargo volume and payload of the long-wheelbase ID. Buzz Cargo. For comparison, in the passenger version, the boot capacity increases to up to 2,469 litres, up from a maximum of 1,581 litres in the standard version.

For the Multivan (available at most as a plug-in hybrid) and the ID. Buzz, VWCV will launch two special-edition models, called the “75 Years” edition. A total of 500 units will be produced for the German market. These models are not only exclusively equipped and branded—they also offer a price advantage of €3,869 (Multivan) and €5,344 (ID. Buzz), according to the manufacturer.
