Few vehicles are as hot in the Street Muscle universe as GM’s 1988-1994 “OBS” trucks. The old body style Chevy and GMC trucks make great cruisers, corner carvers, and stylish haulers. Now ididit has released a better steering column for OBS trucks, with good looks, more functionality, and improved levers.
Nothing is hotter than the GM OBS trucks (1988-’94), and this column is a big upgrade over stock.
“We came out with an ’88-94 OBS column, but we put our own little spin on it. We didn’t like that ugly little bump-out that GM had on the column, so we came out with our own billet levers and electronic package,” said Eddie Mohr, sales manager for ididit. “It’s all plug and play and it looks really nice and finished in the vehicle.”

The factory piece had an ugly bump out on the factory columns that housed the multi-function switch; the new ididit column gives a smoother, sleeker look, and maintains the multi-function capability. The column bolts directly into the factory mounts and has plug-and-play wiring to make everything easy. You can bolt your factory wheel to it or get an adapter and use an aftermarket wheel.

The column features an eight-position tilt function, and is collapsible for improved safety. The cruise control, wiper and dimmer switches are built into the billet aluminum tilt and turn signal lever. It comes with a power control module for wiper speed control, headlight dimmer and ignition accessories.
The column will be out late Q1 of 2026 and retail is expected to be around $2,000, and that includes the column, electronics, and levers.
On the more hardcore side of the street, ididit has a cut-to-fit column that won a runner-up prize at the SEMA Show last year. It’s a pretty bare bones race column, 35-inches in length, that has a weld-on quick release steering wheel hub and can be cut to fit on the car. Ididit also released an adjustable Pro Fab column that has seven inches of adjustability out the back side.

“You can partner it with our quick release as well,” Mohr told us. “There is a lot of versatility and travel and length built into it. We have mounts for the dash as well. The quick releases are sold separately, but it is a GM top spline so it bolts and mates with our quick releases because you never know what bolt pattern people want.”
