The link interfaces with BMW’s Remote Charging Control and allows charging sessions to respond dynamically to grid conditions, shifting consumption to periods of cleaner and lower-cost electricity. According to the partners, the integration supports renewable generation, enhances grid stability and removes the need for manual scheduling or additional equipment. Drivers can rely on an automated process designed to optimise every charge session.

BMW has chosen to manage charging APIs in-house and is working with a limited number of trusted partners, the manufacturer says. The companies state that the direct interface complements existing third-party links and enables real-time communication between the vehicle, charger and grid. They add that this improves accuracy, security and responsiveness while providing a foundation for wider user adoption.

“BMW has been a fantastic partner to work with and the pace of delivery on both sides has been exceptional,” said Sarah Kenny, Global Head of OEM Partnerships at Kaluza. “From contract signing to go-live in just three months, this milestone demonstrates how rapidly meaningful change can happen when technology and automotive leaders collaborate. This is not just about charging vehicles more efficiently. It is about creating the infrastructure for an intelligent, flexible energy system that benefits everyone.”

Kaluza states that the integration reinforces its role as a technology partner for automotive and energy companies. The platform enables secure, real-time data exchange between vehicles and the energy system, creating the basis for large-scale participation of electric vehicles in grid flexibility services. The company adds that this represents a step towards a more resilient and sustainable energy system as EV adoption increases.
