The National Auto Body Council (NABC), along with American Family and Gerber Collision & Glass, recently donated a refurbished vehicle to a U.S. Army veteran who was deployed to Iraq and now works diligently to help other veterans. The donation was made through the NABC”s Recycled Rides program.
The presentation took place at the American Family Insurance Championship, a PGA Champions Tour event in Madison, Wis.
The 2025 Honda CRV Sport was donated by American Family and refurbished by the technicians of Gerber Collision & Glass of Madison.
The recipient, Heather Gautsch, was nominated by the Retired Senior Volunteers’ Veterans’ Helping Veterans Program.
Gautsch served six years in the U.S. Army Reserve, including a deployment to Iraq. She is committed to giving back to the veteran community by volunteering with Stand Down Madison, the Madison Veterans Leadership Team, and the Veterans Support Group at the Outreach Center in Madison. She assists with case management serving veterans who are needing work and suffering hardships and disabilities. Gautsch’s former vehicle was unreliable, which made her volunteer service difficult. She is dedicated to serving her fellow veterans despite obstacles she has faced in her life. Her efforts during and after her military service make her an ideal candidate to receive a Recycled Ride.
