Guy Martin is best known to fans for his love for speed; unfortunately, that’s also how he’s best known to the Old Bill. The 17-time Isle of Man TT podium finisher and TV presenter has been banned from driving and riding for six months and fined £1,329 in fines, costs, and victim surcharges. Tough hit for a man who makes a living largely from riding and driving, but he did get caught speeding—twice.

The 44-year-old triggered speed cameras while riding his Honda Africa Twin in Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. Martin admitted to riding his Honda at 46 mph in a 40 mph zone on the A50, which isn’t an outrageous crime, all things considered. But his second speeding ticket was quite a bit over the limit.

Martin was clocked going 78 mph on the A43 when a temporary 50 mph limit was in place. Normally, the speed limit on this stretch of road is 70 mph, which wouldn’t have made Martin’s offence so egregious. But the law is the law.

But it’s not the fact that Martin was 28 mph over the speed limit that landed him the six-month ban; it was the accumulation of penalty points. In the UK, driving offences are based on a point system, and if road users are issued 12 points within three years, they face disqualification. A low-level speeding offence earns you three points, while more serious speeding offences are met with 4-6 penalty points.

Martin’s first speeding offence happened on July 15, 2025, and the second took place on March 19, 2026. It’s unclear if he was handed six penalty points for each offence or if he had other penalty points prior to the first offence last July. A partner at law firm Chattertons wrote, “He apologises to the court for his offending,” on Martin’s behalf.
