We’re saddened to hear that one of our favorite local tracks is shutting down soon. News broke earlier this week that Pittsburgh International Race Complex—better known simply as Pitt Race to enthusiasts—has been sold. The current ownership says the race track will close down following the end of the 2025 race season, as the new owners will presumably transition the land to another use.

“The Final Season of Pitt Race

“When the checkered flag is thrown, the green flag is waved for the next race. Pitt Race has been our passion. We strived to make Pitt Race a premier motorsports destination. With much thought, Jim and I decided to step away from ownership of the facility. We thank our loyal customers, our dedicated vendors and sponsors, the unwavering supporters, and mostly our dedicated and passionate employees.

“It’s been a fun journey and ride.”

Jim and Kathy Stout, current owners of Pitt Race International

The Stout family has owned the 400+ acre complex for over a decade and have invested a significant amount of time, effort, and money towards turning Pitt Race into a world class motorsports facility—and from our vantage point, they succeeded.

From top-tier SCCA races to local autocross runs to student Formula SAE testing, the track has hosted an incredible mix of events, and its closure will impact the thousands of enthusiasts who frequented its well-maintained campus.

Located just an hour or so from Summit Racing and OnAllCylinders world headquarters, Pitt Race is a favorite “home track” for many of our employees, along with plenty of other folks from the Ohio/West Virginia/Pennsylvania region—heck, it attracts plenty of racers from across the east coast of the United States too. (It was a regular stop for the Summit Racing Autocross Week race-and-drive tour as well.)

According to the Pitt Race social media folks, the last public event will be held November 8 and 9, 2025. Afterwards the complex will change hands to its new ownership.

    Please! Visit Your Local Tracks!

If you’re impacted by the closure of Pitt Race, you still have several world-class tracks in your area, include these two amazing facilities:

Regardless of where you live, if you’re an enthusiast, please attend local races. Go to the tracks. Participate in the events. Buy the merch. Eat the food. Have fun. These local tracks need our support!

Can’t make it to the track before it closes? Check out this video from Summit Racing that features a stop at Pitt Race during a previous Summit Racing Autocross Week event:
