Toronto, Ontario — In this week’s Recall Round-Up, SUVs are under the spotlight as Ford expands their recall to include more vehicles at risk of fuel injector leaks and more than 3,000 Land Rover SUVs are recalled over improperly manufactured airbags.
Engine Expansion: Ford recalls more SUVs over fuel injector leaks
Ford has expanded their recall to add the 2021-2024 Bronco Sport to the list of affected vehicles, replacing two prior recalls and bringing the total of affected SUVs in Canada to 70,618. Both the Bronco and the 2020-2022 Ford Escape that are equipped with 1.5 L EcoBoost engines may have a fuel injector crack, causing fuel to leak into the engine compartment, posing a fire risk.
Ford will notify owners by mail, and a detailer will update the engine control software to detect fuel injector leaks as an interim repair, according to the Transport Canada notice. Those who have already received the software update will be told that this repair is not needed. Owners who received the temporary repair will need to return to a dealership when the final repair is available. The recall’s final corrective actions are still under development.
Airbag Ailment: Land Rover recalls more than 3,000 SUVs
Land Rover issued a recall for 3,115 SUVs over an airbag manufacturing defect. Last updated on July 16, 2025, Transport Canada notes that some of the vehicles passenger-front airbags may have been manufactured improperly, resulting in the possibility of it tearing in a crash.
2021-2025 Range Rover Evoques are affected, and Land Rover will notify owners by mail advising them to take their vehicle to a dealership to get the passenger-front airbag module replaced.
