Toronto, Ontario — Days after announcing recently furloughed employees would return to work, Quebec’s LeddarTech has reversed course and its board is considering ways to wind up its operations.

The company, which makes advanced simulations used to test ADAS and autonomous driving tools, is suspended plans to resume operations. The move follows the sudden collapse of talks with a major commercial partner and casts serious doubt on the company’s future.

In a June 11 press release, the AI-powered perception software firm confirmed that its board is now considering a full range of last-ditch options to return some value to the company’s investors. These include an asset sale, corporate dissolution, restructuring or filing for bankruptcy or insolvency protection. The company has cautioned investors that there is significant risk shareholders will receive little or no value through any eventual outcome.

The reversal comes after a brief window of optimism. Days ago,, LeddarTech had begun rehiring employees furloughed during a May cost-cutting wave that saw 95 percent of its workforce let go, with plans to allow them to return when the company was financially healthy enough to do so.

May also saw the company reveal its AI platform, which integrates sensor data to produce detailed 3D models for ADAS and autonomous driving applications. The software is used by OEMs and Tier 1-2 suppliers worldwide. Aside from the technology, the company’s assets also include 190 patents filed for its underlying technology.

The shift is a cautionary tale for Canadian firms navigating the evolving mobility tech space. While ADAS and automated driving features are reshaping both vehicle design and post-collision workflows, the supporting tech sector remains vulnerable to consolidation, strategic pullback, and investor skittishness.

For repairers in Canada’s collision sector, the company’s potential collapse adds uncertainty to a space already demanding significant retraining and retooling. LeddarTech’s departure, if permanent, could impact the availability of advanced calibration solutions and the adoption of AI-driven diagnostics many were beginning to integrate.

No timeline has been announced for final decisions. The company says trading of its Nasdaq-listed securities may be halted pending insolvency proceedings. More details are expected as the board’s review continues.
