Goderich, Ontario — An Ontario collision repair shop owner has given a young woman in his community a second chance at independence after she lost her very first car in a fire.

When an 18-year-old Goderich resident saw the vehicle she had worked hard to save for destroyed, her dream of travelling more than five hours away to attend college seemed out of reach. That changed when Shawn and Allie Leslie of CARSTAR Goderich stepped in to help.

After spotting her story on a GoFundMe page, Shawn purchased a Honda and — with support from his staff — restored the vehicle to ensure it was safe and road-ready.

He covered the cost of the safety work and personally ensured the car was transferred into the student’s name, eliminating barriers that could have delayed her plans.

The gift not only replaced her lost transportation but also kept her college goals alive. For a young person on the cusp of starting her future, the gesture meant more than just mobility — it meant opportunity.

“Shawn’s generosity has made a huge impact,” CARSTAR said in a statement. “This act of kindness shows the true heart of the CARSTAR Goderich community.”
