TomTom has launched an ADAS SDK designed to accelerate driver assistance deployment and regulatory compliance

TomTom has launched an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) software development kit designed to help automakers and Tier 1 suppliers deploy predictive driver assistance features while meeting regulatory requirements including intelligent speed assistance mandates and Euro NCAP safety protocols. The modular toolkit acts as a gateway to TomTom’s Orbis map data, providing attributes such as speed limits, lane connectivity, curvature, gradient, and traffic sign information.

The SDK generates a predictive path and enables vehicles to compute a most probable path, supporting features including adaptive lighting, hazard warnings, and lane-keeping assistance. For electric vehicles, access to road gradient data and statistical speed profiles enables predictive powertrain management to optimise energy consumption.

TomTom said the toolkit addresses the challenge automakers face in scaling L2+ driver assistance across vehicle platforms and geographies, reducing development time and integration costs compared to full navigation stacks.

In a statement, Manuela Locarno Ajayi, Senior Vice President for Product Engineering at TomTom, said: “In the transition to automated driving, a vehicle’s ability to anticipate the road ahead is just as critical as its ability to see it. Our ADAS SDK provides an out-of-the-box solution to build sophisticated automated driving features in a fast and cost-effective way.”
