SEMA 2025 in Las Vegas is known for game-changing builds, but Velocity Modern Classics might have just shifted the entire landscape for Fox Body enthusiasts. Parked in the Roadster Shop booth is their latest creation: a fully re-engineered 1991 Mustang restomod. This isn’t a one-off show pony designed to disappear after the week is over; it’s the prototype for a new production run that treats the 1979-1993 platform with the same high-end reverence usually reserved for early Mustangs.

A Modern Foundation and Massive Power
Velocity didn’t just slap a coat of paint on a 30-year-old unibody. The team built this coupe from the ground up on a Roadster Shop Spec chassis. This hardware provides a level of structural rigidity and handling precision that a stock 1991 unibody could never achieve.
Under the hood, things get serious. A Ford Performance Gen IV X 5.0-liter Coyote V8 is paired with a 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission. To ensure it leaves everything else in the dust, a 3.0-liter inverted Whipple supercharger forces enough air to generate over 800 horsepower at the rear wheels.

The installation is dressed with hand-built closeout panels for a seamless, OEM-plus finish. Power flows through a 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission, a carbon fiber driveshaft, and a Ford 9-inch rear axle.
Styling the Velocity 1991 Mustang Restomod
The exterior retains that iconic LX coupe silhouette but elevates it with concours-level detailing. Finished in a deep Jet Black BASF Glasurit paint, the body features subtle modifications that sharpen the look without losing the car’s identity. A two-inch cowl hood sits on Ringbrothers billet hinges, while Carter’s Customs side splitters add an aggressive edge. It rolls on 18-inch CCW SA50 three-piece wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, which struggle to hide the massive Baer six-piston brakes needed to stop this beast.
A Roadster Shop SPEC chassis forms the foundation for the car’s new performance envelope. The rear section features minitubs that accommodate wide Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires on 18-inch CCW SA50 wheels, while Baer six-piston brakes bring serious stopping power. The stance is wider and more confident, but still true to the car’s classic proportions.
A Luxury Cockpit Upgrade
Inside, the transformation is just as drastic. Velocity replaced the squeaky plastic typical of the ’80s and ’90s with a refined driving environment. Recaro Expert M heated seats keep you planted, while a Sparc Industries steering wheel offers modern tactile feedback. The dash is custom-fitted with Dakota Digital and Auto Meter gauges. Creature comforts haven’t been ignored either, with a Vintage Air climate control system and a premium Focal audio setup controlled by a retro-styled Blaupunkt Frankfurt head unit.
Production Begins in 2026
While the car at SEMA is a showcase, Velocity has confirmed this is the future of their Signature Series. Production is slated to begin in 2026. This move signals that the Fox Body has officially arrived in the high-end collector space. Velocity has successfully reimagined the icon, delivering a turnkey build that drives like a modern supercar while looking like the street machine hero of 1991.
