In a statement from the American Petroleum Institute (API), the transition period for implementation of the ILSAC GF-7 transition period has been expanded until 2026.
The American Petroleum Institute (API) has extended the overlap period between the ILSAC GF-6 and the new ILSAC GF-7 engine oil standards to October 1, 2026, in response to industry requests. This creates an 18-month overlap period instead of the customary one year. It provides oil marketers additional time to transition to the latest specification.
