If the name Hero MotoCorp rings a bell, it’s probably because of the company’s recent tie-up with Harley-Davidson. Together, they cooked up the X440, a small-capacity Harley built for India, and one that turned the rest of the world green with envy. That move grabbed global headlines because it showed Hero could dip its toes into the premium side of motorcycling, and that Harley actually cared about small, beginner-friendly bikes.
That being said, Hero’s real strength has always been in making affordable, sensible commuters that keep millions of riders moving every day.
Case in point: the new Hero Glamour X 125. On paper, it’s just a basic commuter—an air-cooled 124.7cc single making about 10.7 horsepower and 10.6 pound-feet of torque, hooked up to a five-speed gearbox. That’s nowhere near enough for freeway duty in the US, but here’s the kicker: it returns a claimed 63 km/L (around 148 mpg) thanks to Hero’s i3S idle stop-start system. Imagine how far you could stretch a gallon on this thing.
And here’s the thing. This bike retails for the equivalent of about $1,100 USD over in India. That’s some insane value for money.
But what really makes the Glamour X interesting is the extra kit Hero sprinkled on. This isn’t a bare-bones runabout. It’s got cruise control, ride-by-wire throttle, multiple ride modes, Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation, and even a panic brake alert that flashes the hazards if you stomp on the brakes. Those are features you’d usually expect on bikes costing several times more.
Styling got an update too: a sharp tank with integrated shrouds, LED lighting all around, and a tidy digital dash. Add in commuter-friendly touches like a wide seat, long-travel suspension, and 180mm of ground clearance, and you’ve got something that feels a little more “premium” without ditching practicality.

So, would it make sense on US roads? Not if you’re bombing down the interstate. But picture it as a city bike: weaving through downtown traffic, running errands, maybe even enjoying some backcountry roads at a relaxed pace. For that, a light, efficient, and fuss-free machine like the Glamour X makes a ton of sense. It’s cheap to run, easy to handle, and thanks to those modern features, it doesn’t feel like you’re stepping back in time.
At the end of the day, the Glamour X is still very much a workhorse—just one that decided to dress up a little. And honestly? For riders who just want something simple, dependable, and cost-effective, that’s a pretty appealing package.
