The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to bring their respective strengths into the development process. Xing Mobility is essentially a Taiwan-based developer of immersion cooling technology for batteries. The company states that it will contribute its expertise in immersion-cooled cell-to-pack battery systems to the partnership. Ideenion will add its experience in end-to-end vehicle design and automotive engineering.
On this basis, the partners aim to create electrification solutions for various applications. Specifically mentioned are ‘high-performance and commercial vehicles, marine platforms, and energy storage systems’. The partners intend to concentrate primarily on the European market. Ideenion provides the foundation for this, as the Gaimersheim-based company develops mobility concepts for manufacturers including Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
The duo promises future customers rapid and high-quality implementation from concept to market. “Joint engineering teams will deliver integrated, turnkey solutions—from pack integration and vehicle thermal strategy to E/E architecture and digital validation,” the statement reads. It will shorten time-to-market and minimise risks on the path from prototype to series production. As a production site, the partners cite Xing’s existing factory in Thailand.

In immersion cooling technology, the battery cells are completely surrounded by coolant. Conventional systems typically use cooling plates or channels that touch only one or two sides of a battery cell – the heat transfer takes place over a significantly smaller surface area than with immersion cooling. The latter is designed to dissipate heat efficiently and prevent thermal runaway within individual cells as well as the spread of fire across the entire pack.
In July 2022, Xing launched its Immersio XM25 battery, developed specifically for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. Two years ago, the company followed this with the launch of a first cell-to-pack battery solution (‘Immersio CTP’) at the IAA, suitable for electric cars. At last autumn’s Paris Motor Show, the Taiwanese firm presented a cell-to-chassis solution. At this year’s IAA Mobility, the company unveiled its latest Immersio cell-to-pack battery system, which is now also expected to serve as the basis for its collaboration with Ideenion.
