Toronto, Ontario — The Boyd Group Services Inc. is opening its 1,000th collision repair location in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The Winnipeg-based company, which trades on the TSX under the symbol BYD.TO, now operates more than 875 U.S. locations and over 125 facilities across five Canadian provinces.

Chief executive officer Brian Kaner said the company’s workforce of more than 13,000 employees made the growth possible.

“What an amazing accomplishment for our organization,” he said.

Boyd Group Services has built its collision repair empire from humble beginnings in Manitoba’s capital city. The company opened its first Boyd Autobody & Glass location in Winnipeg in 1990, beginning what would become one of North America’s largest non-franchised collision repair networks.

The early years saw steady growth across western Canada, with the operation expanding to 12 locations by 1995. Incorporation followed in 1997 as the company set its sights on continental leadership in the automotive repair sector.

A pivotal moment came in 1999 when Boyd became Canada’s largest collision repair operator and simultaneously launched its U.S. expansion. The American footprint grew substantially in 2004 with the acquisition of Gerber Collision & Glass and its 16 locations, providing the platform for Boyd’s current dominant position south of the border.

Today, the company operates more than 875 U.S. locations alongside more than 125 facilities in Canada. Within the True North, Boyd operates under the Boyd Autobody & Glass and Assured Automotive banners, while its American operations primarily use the Gerber Collision & Glass brand.

Beyond traditional collision repair, Boyd has diversified into auto glass retail through brands including Glass America, Auto Glass Service, Auto Glass Authority and Autoglassonly.com. The company also operates Gerber National Claims Services, a third-party administrator offering glass and emergency roadside services, plus Mobile Auto Solutions for vehicle scanning and calibration.

The milestone comes as Canada’s collision repair sector continues consolidating, with larger operators acquiring independent shops to achieve greater scale and efficiency. Boyd’s growth strategy combines organic expansion through new location openings with strategic acquisitions of existing operations.

Kaner said the company will continue opening and acquiring locations.
